An illustrative video of the CRYST^3 project
With the support of European Union Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation, the coalition of CRYST^3 project partners have produced a video animation to demonstrate the project objective as well as the operation of the future prototype.
Over a period of 4 years the European CRYST^3 project plans to prototype the laser cooling of individual atoms encapsulated in a fully functionalized, hermetically sealed hollow-core photonic crystal fiber, which will then be integrated and stimulated by external light sources such as lasers.
CRYST^3 will generate this first fully operational prototype including its digital design, manufacturing, post-processing and testing – everything until it undergoes industrial evaluation by a leading photonics company.
The CRYST^3 project partners have uploaded a video animation to share their goal and the different stages of the project with the general public as well as the operation of the hollow-core fiber prototype.
Funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, the CRYST^3 collaborative project brings together several partners:
- University of Limoges (FR)
- Theoretical and Applied Institute IOTA - SUPOPTIQUE (FR)
- ALPhANOV Technology Center (FR)
- GLOphotonics (EN)
- University of Innsbruck (AT)
- WIGNER Fizikai Kutatóközpont (HU)
- Università degli studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia - UNIMORE (IT)
- Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna (IT)
ALPhANOV's role:
As part of this project, ALPhANOV will be responsible for developing the functionalization of special fibers. This functionalization will include the adaptation of the mode as well as the inscription of the Bragg gratings. ALPhANOV will also be the coordinator of communication, dissemination and exploitation activities throughout the project CRYST^3 project.
